Opps, sorry, i am with Starhub, so not much experience with Singnet. But I dun think they actually throttles your speed. i've forward all the port needed for bt and even try DMZ but it does not solve the problem.
singnet is doing something call traffic shaping, this method actually slow down p2p dl speed greatly.
yes p2p is not illegeal, but singnet still block it.
if im not wrong they r stoping all this dl(stealing our bandwith) so they dun hav 2 buy a bigger sever 2 support more user.(no proof btw juz wat i think).
so the end of the stroy is....... if u use p2p singnet is not the best choice.

Suspecting my of lying about the 800KB/s? Ok I admit it, somewhat a little. I am with Starhub 10mbps and once I got 800 for Azureus but the speed of that particular torrent only shot up like that for 5 min or so. Then dropped back to around 90KB. I swear. And 90KB is when the torrent is really good, lots of seeders. Windows Firewall basically don't restrict too much like the commercial firewall available. It don't even show up in the background, of which I really doubt their firewall's usefulness.
If ISP blocks P2P, you all cannot download through them liao. Correct word would be to monitor.
When I download things from specially built Starhub server like Maple Sea Game Client, I can get 300KB constantly.
What i am trying to say is slow download speed was not totally caused by ISP. If u r downloading from a site with only a broadwith of 10MB, dun ever expect to get more than 20Kb for you download speed even if you are with some 200 bucks business plan. -

When you download things from a specially built server, it's a totally different thing. We are talking about downloading from the website itself. For example, we download a game from Gamehouse. Even though Gamehouse's bandwidth is rather good, but our download speeds are slow. -

heard few cases also the isp their internal service, consumer services ( mobile etc ) not up to standard :: eg. they can hear ur complaint or u can grumble n still grumble to them for 20 -- 1 hour ..still back to square one ...
or they can say get back to u .. ( imagine they seng lang taking part civil pay in office just taking calls.... den u can wait forever for them to call to u...so another way is u urself terminate the contract / u painfully wait for ur contract to end then
u happily jump ship...

if you guys talking about dl spikes...my highest dl spike was a few thousand kps for 1 file only. dl a 10mb file in like 2-5 seconds? i was shocked so fast. that was the only 1 time. other times were like few hundred kps for naruto anime when using 256kps. now i using 512.

Hi i am on singnet 512 broadband, my gf also but when she sends file to me, it takes forever on msn but when i surf net, it is very fast. then when some frens on starhub send me files on msn, it can be very fast at times andvery slow at times. why? is it bec singnet is slow?

Lucky i used pacific.net. No problem so far. $50 for 512Kbps... for download and upload.

I am quite sure singnet is tracking P2P activities...las time i used to hav de 512 plan and i get 30-40kbps which was quite reasonable.Now i switced to 3.5mbps at the beginning of de month and my speed is still more or less de same.moreover,surfin has become very laggy for de past few weeks.Sometimes pages on sgforums and elsewhere even failed to load.I am quite pissed off wid dem now

me also a singnet broadband customer using 512Kbps plan... these few days, very laggy.. dont know y.. I tell myself to endure for another yr, and I will be switching to maxonline.. I had enough of singnet broadband...

and oh ya, I dont bother to call their customer service support unnecessarily.. Coz I will get pissed off everytime I did it... it seems 4ever for them to pick up the call and their advice most of the time does not work... I rather DIY myself rather den depending on them...

this has been a long concerning issue for sometime.
Im using starhub and bt dl speeds easily reach the hundreds and stays there, povided the file is well seeded.
