PacNet ADSL and cable DSL not good either and expensive, that's why not many people using PacNet as their choice of service provider.Originally posted by TehJarVu:how come all singnet or starhub? no one using pac net?
Agree with FireIce on this point.Originally posted by FireIce:pacnet is good for corporate.
Opps, sorry, i am with Starhub, so not much experience with Singnet. But I dun think they actually throttles your speed. Its just that ADSL is known to be slow when its peak hour.Originally posted by casshern:u r wrong. Singnet is throttling our connections at peak hour. lazy to find the article. something baout p-cube or wat
Yup sorry if i am unclear in my previous post. Firewall does block but once u install a P2P client its by default that Windows Firewall will accept the client and unblock. So like you say, its useless.Originally posted by rebound:i can ensure u that it has nothing 2 do with the firewall
i've forward all the port needed for bt and even try DMZ but it does not solve the problem.
singnet is doing something call traffic shaping, this method actually slow down p2p dl speed greatly.
yes p2p is not illegeal, but singnet still block it.
if im not wrong they r stoping all this dl(stealing our bandwith) so they dun hav 2 buy a bigger sever 2 support more user.(no proof btw juz wat i think).
so the end of the stroy is....... if u use p2p singnet is not the best choice.
Suspecting my of lying about the 800KB/s? Ok I admit it, somewhat a little. I am with Starhub 10mbps and once I got 800 for Azureus but the speed of that particular torrent only shot up like that for 5 min or so. Then dropped back to around 90KB. I swear. And 90KB is when the torrent is really good, lots of seeders. Usually I am getting 50KB - 300KB ( Shot up to 300, unsteady and only for minutes)Originally posted by Sagara:chenc, your broadband plan is .. ?
A guess.. MOL Ultimate ?
I am in Choa Chu Kang, not crowded, but definately not empty. I have Starhub 10mbps and 800KB is only when i am using Azureus and it only lasted for minutes before going back to 100.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Where you stay in the first place? If you stay in some place where there are not many residents, I won't be surprised if your download speeds is that.
Windows Firewall basically don't restrict too much like the commercial firewall available. It don't even show up in the background, of which I really doubt their firewall's usefulness.
If ISP blocks P2P, you all cannot download through them liao. Correct word would be to monitor.
I AM PACNET SO FAR SO GD NO PROBLEMS BUT DL SPEED FRICKING SLOW 50+KBPS AT MOSTOriginally posted by TehJarVu:how come all singnet or starhub? no one using pac net?
That's much clearer now.Originally posted by chenc:I am in Choa Chu Kang, not crowded, but definately not empty. I have Starhub 10mbps and 800KB is only when i am using Azureus and it only lasted for minutes before going back to 100.
When I download things from specially built Starhub server like Maple Sea Game Client, I can get 300KB constantly.
What i am trying to say is slow download speed was not totally caused by ISP. If u r downloading from a site with only a broadwith of 10MB, dun ever expect to get more than 20Kb for you download speed even if you are with some 200 bucks business plan.
ya remember when i use Singnet out of the blue always kena "Net-Split" on mIrc. Now on starhub. No more "net-split" liaoOriginally posted by FireIce:home wireless on starhub
can say 1yr+ liao neber encounter problems
last time on singnet BB always mo ming qi miao kena d/c
sometimes very fast r/c but sometimes take very long to r/c
to sum up as shutter n others said :: v. sad as ur a consumer cant /dunno ifOriginally posted by ShutterBug:I think by far, SingNet's ADSL broadband services is TRULY VERY bad.
Firstly, their Helpdesk number is really hard to get through and have a technical officer to help you. Secondly, some of their ADSL modems even though brand new, are faulty (this is true and from experience). Thirdly, their response in sending someone to check on your line/modem connection is LONG - recently my friend waited one full week!
I mean, wtf, such a big name and service is so LACK LUSTRE?
SingNet, why provide a service when you can't live up to the service standard of today???

Nice to be here
still cannot forget that bad incident u had ar?Originally posted by BaByBoY:just to add on..
theor service aint tt great either
it's either u/them have a slow upload speed.. but upload speed varies a lot from person to person so u can get different results when u try sending to different ppl.. from experience, i dun think file transfer speed over msn is governed by ISPs becos I can transfer files at 40-60 kbps over msn to a few frens and they arent all using the same ISP(Singtel) as me.. i'm oso not sure if its affect by the distance they are from me cos my fren living just 800m from me is getting the same transfer rate as my fren living 20km away from me..Originally posted by superworm99:Hi i am on singnet 512 broadband, my gf also but when she sends file to me, it takes forever on msn but when i surf net, it is very fast. then when some frens on starhub send me files on msn, it can be very fast at times andvery slow at times. why? is it bec singnet is slow?
