me and my frens ever ate guava in front of the control station and the mrt person signal from their glass office to tell us not to eat...

The above case are nothing 2 years ago my EXCO were having outting and few girl actually bought Long John Silver set and eat it in the train , there even have the mood to exchage fishes and packed chilli with one another , for us the guy went somewhere else in the train and pretend we dunno them

sometimes when youre very hungry.. den ppl eat on the train/bus, the smell of the french fries... overwhelming

those, who are caught eating/boozing on the train, deserve harsher penalties or be severely punished - either by doing corrective work at orchard rd or at those crowded mrt stations, or fine heavier. Repeat offenders shld be sent to jail.
Eating on the train or bus is an selfish and inconsiderate act which not only wld make everyone's trip an unpleasant one, but might also attract coc.kroaches and rats. No one would wish to fall sick after travelling on the train/bus.
their photos must be displayed on notice boards at MRT stations and bus-stop/interchange.

I even saw some primary sch kids eating some snacks in the MRT stations & trains. Seen them at Raffles Place MRT Stn.

wow...didn't expect so much negative reactions...i mean...its for the convenience sake mahz...its similar to eating your bread on the bus while on the way to school...
fair enough...if they spill anything...it will be a mess...then maybe they should clear it up... -

OMG! eating in the train? come on man. why would anyone want to do that? signs are everywhere and being school kids, they have no reason not to know that eating is not allowed in public transport.
it is not so much of the litter, but the smell of fries in an air-con train can get quite sick after a while.
personally i feel, drinking water from a water bottle is fine, as long u don't litter, but eating is a strict no no. not everybody likes what u are eating.

please tell me some other reasons why people eat, and i'll answer your question of, "why would anyone want to do that?" -

we live in a fast and competitive paced society, we need to be gracious but ourselves need to be tactful of others.
and with regards to coffeeandtea's question on why people would eat in the trains, i can only speculate that it might be due to laziness (lazy to alight and eat outside the station), extreme hunger (but could eat b4 entering the station), low blood sugar level i.e medical probs, too busy that the only time the person can eat is while commuting. is that what u were asking me? -

please do not eat or bring in food into the train if the food has strong fragrant smell that will make everyone in the train hungry.
dirtying the place is 1 thing, making everyone stare at your food mouth watering is another thing. -

when i was young, i sat on the bus with a bag of french fries i wanted to bring home and eat. i never open it but the smell of the fries was already in the air! i was hungry and i thought, "just eat one frie and stop!" i ate one. then i couldn't stop.

i think the students you saw also didn't mean to...
ok la. but i think the "no food and drinks" in trains/buses is absolutely necessary. if not, our public transport would be so dirty.
don't get so worked up over the minority la. and i think it's a really small minority. -
We have been debutting over here over the rights and wrongs of eating in the station and trains, but end of the day, it's still up to SMRT and SBST to enforce the "no eating and drinking" regulations.
It's just like they have security officers doing random checks to bags and patrolling the stations, but most of the times, station personnels and security officers closed one eye on these even they see it.
