Ok, so heres a short description of my friend's singnet connection and mine. My friend plays dota at bnet with me.
Once we started dota which was around last year, it was almost lag free, i didnt have pinging software that time. But now i have it. Around the last 2 months there is a major latency problems singnet and starhub users and the ping reaches 100+ms. Untill now the problem is resolved and my ping to him is around 20ms.
With my starhub connection i had never disconnected until one time. When my cable tv and my cable modem just black out every few minutes for 20seconds each. I called them and they said its a problem with my 2 way splitter, i waited it out and its ok when i came back from my nap -

as my mother always accidently off my router. and it took me an hours or so to re-connect the server back -

Singnet technical service line is 24hrs.

I will be dead meat by the time I reached them.
I call them and book appointment instead. Saves time, but waste money. Don't know if the sacrifice is worth it, but my parents are hinting for a change of ISP once my Singnet expires.... -

my mum around 16months mobile contract, no choice as the phone is cheap and servicing need pay money irregardless if theres any repair
that time 6111 with 2 year plan $200+
we wanted to recontract the ivalue or ione plan(i forgot)
initially before we went to the booth i told my mum $228 + $100=$328
the counter staff said need add another $100 because of some promotions whatsover..

Actually, no use switching to Starhub also if your PC, is chocked full of adware and spyware and FREE-ware (FREE antivirus and firewalls that claims to do the job).
Your problem is likley user-based. Not provider-based.
However, with SingNet's adsl connections, it is inevitable that you suffer some lag now and then, and connection issues are largely caused by noisey telephone network cabling in certain estates/landed properties that are old and in need of maintenance.
Switching to a cable modem connection is better, while keeping your PC clean of FREE-ware, adware and spyware ensures you don't suffer lags. -
You know, actually all your laggy problems are caused by other factors.
Following are just some:
>> FREE firewalls and or antivirus software
>> MSN Messenger in the background
>> Norton System Works
>> Norton Internet Security installed on systems with only 128Mb or 256Mb RAM
>> PC infected by adware, spyware, viruses, and or file sharing applications, iTunes and other MP3 sharing or downloading networks
>> Fancy cursor programs and or screensavers, or wallpaper applications like Web Shot
>> FREE online games that does not really Quit after quitting
>> and other memory leaking programs that are either FREE or pirated
>> Windows XP that is NOT updated at all
>> RealPlayer Networks eats up your bandwidth
There. If you don't believe what I say, try reformatting and installing Windows. After reformatting and re-installing Windows, your connection will be blazingly fast - until you start piling on all those stuff.
