My goodness n this is the typical student in Spore like to despise others. Is there anything wrong to take a big round to polytechnic. r u a singaporean? Anyway it's quite obvious that u dun understand my statement and the system here. ITE students graduated and enter poly with their good ITE results, not ITE students taking ITE halfway then enters poly (unless they retook their o level subjects like me)Originally posted by dragg:why go to poly if ITE is good enough?
that much is obvious.

This is complete rubbish.Originally posted by freakass:2) Got choice but chose the longer route = pure stupidity. For example, some people chose to go to poly when they are eleigible to go to JC, and then after they got their diploma, they look into taking up a degree. This is stupidity at its max.

I don't see how it is stupid, unless you wasted your 3 years in poly and failed the entrance tests which would have gained you a direct entry to Year 2.Originally posted by freakass:2) Got choice but chose the longer route = pure stupidity. i am a singaporean. i have a ITC in mechantronics engineering, thought not from ITE.Originally posted by Texcoco II:r u a singaporean? i completely agree with u.. i'm 1 of those eligible 4 jc, but i chose poly instead. not bcoz it'll be more "slack" (it isn't anyway), but bcoz i knew what i wanna study (something not offered in jc). It's not stupid, coz u don't juz sit there & wait 4 the teachers 2 feed u with subjects like maths & science. U need 2 be able 2 think out of the box, 2 do your own research, write 3000 (or sometimes 5000) words for an essay. You gain insight to the real world thru projects & internship. Now, would U call that stupid? & yes, it's not the "longer" route, coz I'm in NTU now, & I'm exempted from several subjects & will be able 2 graduate in 3 yrs, whereas the jc grads need 2 take 4 yrs.Originally posted by shade343:This is complete rubbish.
People who can go to JC choose to go poly because they prefer a more practical approach to learning. And its not the "longer" route as you mentioned. Diploma graduates enter Uni direct at the 2nd year.
JC students start from year 1. So it still balances out.![]()

how about jc pple getting bad results for their A level turn to poly route? wasting two years just to gain good results in poly so that they can get into uni?Originally posted by freakass:1) No choice but to take the longer route due to poor results / slower learning capability = Good learning attitude. onli get direct admission to 2nd yr if yr results are superbOriginally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:I don't see how it is stupid, unless you wasted your 3 years in poly and failed the entrance tests which would have gained you a direct entry to Year 2.
In effect, it balances out. JC students spend 2 years studying for A Levels, then 3/4 years in university.
Poly students spend 3 years doing their diploma and gain direct entry and spend 2/3 years in university.

i see that happens too.
and jc students getting below-average results ending up in lousy universities. year 1 some more.Originally posted by 798:how about jc pple getting bad results for their A level turn to poly route? wasting two years just to gain good results in poly so that they can get into uni?

wat you mean? as far as i know if u r diploma holder, as long ur cert is relevant to the course in uni, u will be grant to 2nd year directly.Originally posted by Chelzea:onli get direct admission to 2nd yr if yr results are superb
depend on wad uni...SMU i noe is 4 yrs .....Originally posted by 798:wat you mean? as far as i know if u r diploma holder, as long ur cert is relevant to the course in uni, u will be grant to 2nd year directly.
superb result can get u any course u desire but u will still need to study 4/5 years if the course in uni is irrelevant to ur diploma.
