Haha... it seems that this is a common punishments among pri sch teachers. -
Besides Singapore, there are also funny punishments on other countries. One of which I know of is a traditional punishment in South Korea. I have seen this punishment several times in Korean dramas where teachers punish the student to kneel down and raise both arms high up.

Yesterday my teacher confiscated my phone for not doing one composition. She said I must stay back after school, complete the work and retrieve my phone. But the DM told me to leave the school as there was some event. Then today I went to school to get it back. She actually kept it overnight. Then she complained to me that her handbag was heavy because she had to hold my phone. Then I told her that my mother was not happy about this. She said this is just the culture of Deyi secondary school. Now I regret coming to this school.

I didn't take note of the show name but I have seen it a few times in Korean dramas. I was curious and asked one of my facebook friend who is a south korean. She was surprised that I know of this traditional korean school punishment and she said that the whole class usually got punished this way just because of a few troublemakers. As she used to teaching English in high schools and colleges in south korea, I asked her if she punish her students to kneel and raise arms as well. She laughed and said that the most she will make them stand outside classroom. That's very nice of her. -

My teacher like to punish students to stand at the corner and pull ears when the students haven't done homework or like to punish students to stand at the corner use their hands to cover their mouth when they are talking in the assembly. They are in front of the school.

Hm... in your previous post, you mentioned your teacher likes to punish students to stand inside circle at the playground. Now is standing at a corner? It depends on the teacher's mood right? -
Many Teachers have different punishment! Some Teachers like punish student stand on the bench!

Haha... standing is the basic. There are a few variations of stand (e.g. stand facing wall, stand on chair/table, stand inside small circle etc). Sometimes there are add-ons like stand and raise hands or carry chair/bag above the head. I guess it depends on the mood and preference of the teacher. As for duration, most of the time, the student will stand for the whole lesson. :D -

the student will have to stand in front of sch.. on the stage...
then teacher allow student who go pass the stage to laugh at the person kena punished.. and a lot ppl will laugh at the person kena punished...

My School is similar to you. But our teacher like punish the students to pull their own ear when punish. -

Nope. 1 period = 35 mins. 1 lesson may consist of 1, 2, 3 or 4 periods. So too bad if the lesson consist of 3 or 4 periods, then you have to stand for a long time. :D ir worst still, the teacher teaches 2 subjects which stretch beyond 1 lesson. Haha... -

Hey, this seemed like a very common punishment too. One of my friend said that her sec sch chinese teacher punished them this way for not bringing textbook. They have to outstretch their hands for 1 period. Hm...... stretch out hands horizontally or vertically more tiring?
