true also lah...sometimes cannot blame these teachers for giving out such harsh punishments...student unrepentant after getting punished...teacher facing so much stress alredi, at times may let anger get the betta of them and punish irrationally...

Punishments in Singapore schools are nth compared to those in schools in china and Taiwan. I googled about them and realised students in singapore are having it too easy.

Well, in Penang, CPT got a few cases.
Mainly is teacher TL, then whack lo. HM usually cover up.
Don't cover up la, go get the teacher kaokao, then you look good. Malaysia the risk of students whack is quite high.

I believe disciphine starts in home.
I remember, last time I ran to take my bag, (i was P1) but the teacher screamed at me as if i was very heavy.
now i very well-behaved.
parents should not interfer with verbal pushiment when the child is P1 to P3, it does a lot of good

if the teacher only stops at screaming/verbal punishments, its still ok...during my time, verbal punishments were often accompanied wif physical punishments...

school are meant to be fun and enjoyable. not some place when you get scolded everyday.

The kids are brought up by maid.
Given everything they want.
No discipline as they act like a king.
Bring the same behaviour to school.
What do you expect the teacher to do if they treat the teacher like they treat their maid ?
No point for the teacher to punish the kid if the parent alway let them behave like monkey.

I think that there shouldnt be any physical punishment. As a student myself, i find it very hard for the student even if its just being ask to stand. If i was punished to stand, nothing taught in the lesson will go through my mind (maybe its just me) and thus defeating the purpose of having lesson. My school have a system like this. All offences of a student is recorded in the class management book and certain number of offences equal to detention 1 afternoon. And lower LCD grade in the term report. If the student really cock up with the teachers, then it will be recorded as a heavy offence.

Nowadays youth crime so low, and decreasing annually. 369 or AST hold no power at all. If now tough, the 20 years ago, teachers' working condition must be inhumane.
The statement 'Kids nowadays are one bunch of spoiled brat' is just a pseudo perception made up by many adults. Many believe youth crime very high nowadays, until i show them statistical evidence that it is not. Like many more developed nation, expert ALL agree today's youths are better behaved, but at the same time, the hold higher IQ than kids in the past.
If a teacher cannot handle a bunch of kids, who they have positional power(as a teacher) to coerce them, then probably that teacher is not suitable for any job that require some people skills. Examples:
Become a lawyer? Let say a bussiness lawyer, he/she has to handle those people like CEO and other board members, negotiating with lawyers representing other client. Do u think the lawyer can punish them if they don't cooperate?
Become a Banker? You make money ur clients are happy. What happen when u lose money?
Accountant? You handle banker, suppliers, customers. Do u think they would be bother about u?

Erm...
Taiwan and South Korea have banned(a few years ago) physical punishmant on students. YES! some teachers still break the rules. Do you know what happen to those teacher? They were arrested and some were shamed on national TV. Go google about it.
China is still a developing nation plus an ex-communist country, it's normal that they still have alot of barbaric rules.

Physical punishments are not the best solution. It will only bring up the S&M reward for teachers. Yes, some teachers get turned on for caning students. One thing is when teachers punished students, the student must know what he/she did wrong. Counselling is better than any form of punishments.

A taiwan case, a male teacher arrested for spanking female students. I believe he has SM fetish.
Firstly, physical punishment is banned in Taiwan. Secondly, a male spanking female.
Harsh punishment might not be the answer for lowering crime rate.
Malaysia, China laws are so strict, yet crime are so high.
Japan, Switzerland, Monaco laws are so lax, but crime so low.
Something else rather than strict punishment is required to maintain low crime. Btw, Singapore crime rate(although impressively low), is not the lowest.

In my opinion this should not happen,I know sometimes childrens behave strangely but at that time you should try to convince them to behave in a good manner.

Last time I remember one male discipline master in our all boys secondary school who liked to go around squeezing and pulling boys nipple when he got angry.
He just aim his death grip around the neh ji area and see u hang or suay, if suay tio jackpot if heng miss but meat still get pulled.
He did that punishment to alot of boys until someone got frustrated and reported it to the police.
I knew the police came because my friend and I were being punished outside the DMs office and at around 4pm and we saw 2 police man in uniform walked into the DMs office.
Ever since the heros in blue uniform paid him a visit, none of us ever had any sore nipples until we graduated :)
