Since when, life is fair?Originally posted by thelesis:People,
Like to share some of my thoughts.
If you have a girlfriend and that time you went for national service for 2 and 1/2 years. At that period of time, your girlfriend is working until you finished NS.
By the time, you are already 23... There's like 0% in yr CPF but your girlfriend got 10K in her CPF. Go out work.. All girls position is also higher than us because
they already got the 2and half years experience.....
SO obviously spore gals are lucky. But then how can you girls so materialistic..
we spore guys how to buy house like that??? How to get married??? We should go dutch !!! Simple because you have more savings than us for sure..
We, guys have to pay for our girlfriends as a gentleman and still have to support our family. Then our girlfriends said we dun have prospects and become materialistic.. This doesn't make sense.. Am I right to say that, guys?
Not govt sector la. generally private sector will be the same too.Originally posted by Chelzea:i think dats onli apply in goverment sectorTIME cannot be bought wif riches

No, from what I know guys still earn more than females of the same age and qualification and what I feel is that even without NS males will still get better chances of promotions and faster pay increase.Originally posted by freakass:Can someone confirm the following:
- Guys do get a higher starting pay because they served NS.
- Guys do have better chances of promotion.
The above are the reasons given for guys ultimately earning more than their same age female friends with same education level.. However, how true is it? Does it apply to all companies or only government organisations?
From what I see, most companies do not care about whether you served NS or not... they give the same starting pay to all new employees with the same qualifications applying for the same position... I think only government organisations give a little more to guys.. This little more to guys will never make up for the income that our female counterparts made over the years (not to forget all their promotions over the 2 years)...
At this point of the argument, many of you will immediately say that in long term, guys will still overtake their female counterparts because they have better chances of promotion... But is this true in today's society when girls are fighting so much for their rights? Girls these days are much more educated than the past and the society no longer is biased against them anymore... So my point is: the saying that guys have better chances of promotion may not be so true anymore...
**Ultimately, we may not be able to catch up with our female counterparts of the same age and same qualifications after all... Not that I blame the females or wad... they play no part in this whole issue... I'm just trying to raise some facts...
Oh okay... then maybe i'm wrong... i havent started working yet... still in my final year in uni... so i'm not really sure of the situation outside...Originally posted by toll123:No, from what I know guys still earn more than females of the same age and qualification and what I feel is that even without NS males will still get better chances of promotions and faster pay increase.
So at first guys might be lagging but ultimately they will overtake the females. Not to forget that for a female her career will be affected if she is pregnant.

Yes what I said is in general terms.Originally posted by freakass:Oh okay... then maybe i'm wrong... i havent started working yet... still in my final year in uni... so i'm not really sure of the situation outside...
What you just said is a general case right? and not only for your company right?
Actually, why are you girls always bringing in the "giving birth" scenario to compare? How about guys in other countries who don't have to serve NS? Does it mean that they are inferior compared to Singaporean guys?Originally posted by meltz:tell a man to give birth ...![]()
Oh brother... you just made a big mistake by making this statement.... LegalJustice or JusticeLegal will definitely flame you... hahahahahahaOriginally posted by toll123:Yes what I said is in general terms.
Not to forget that even through females are getting more educated and more power compared to the past, male are still considered a more superior sex and that's why you see more males than females in a company's management.![]()
y the hell always bring in NS thing .. not the girl in sg tell u to do NS ...Originally posted by freakass:Actually, why are you girls always bringing in the "giving birth" scenario to compare? Do you girls mean that guys have to serve NS because we don't give birth? I think the very fact that girls need to give birth and guys dont is already compensated by guys who love their wives and continue to support her financially and emotionally during the birth and after that... The whole thing about NS doesnt even come into the picture at all!
I don't give a damn to her anyway.Originally posted by freakass:Oh brother... you just made a big mistake by making this statement.... LegalJustice or JusticeLegal will definitely flame you... hahahahahaha
Cool down... I'm not trying to start a war... The threadstarter was just trying to raise a possible issue of gender unfairness in the local NS system... nothing against the girls... just the system... then somehow a few of you girls got defensive and started saying about the "giving birth" scenario....Originally posted by meltz:y the hell always bring in NS thing .. not the girl in sg tell u to do NS ...
write in to govt to complaint ... what the use of whining here ..
Hhahahaha +1 for your courage bro..... Good luck!Originally posted by toll123:I don't give a damn to her anyway.
No matter what with or without NS guys will have better promotion chance and faster pay increase compared to the ladies.
So to all guys: There's nothing to feel inferior regarding this issue cos you have a chance to overtake them!![]()
Guys, I am just sharing my thoughts. Is okay that you agreed or not agreed with me but it seems that many of us share the same thoughts..Originally posted by freakass:Cool down... What a b.i.t.c.h...but hey, like my friends say, don't give up an entire forest for a rotted tree. They woke up the side of me which I didn't know I had. Now I can go out with whichever girl I wish and the thing is no commitments! And I realised how much I've missed out, because there's a real distinction of a girl and a woman.Originally posted by thelesis:I do too.. I see he work hard for her.. and yet, she dumped him but now he is single but still his heart hurt so deep.. can you imagine he already gave out the wedding invitation cards to all his relative.. he felt he is the most luckiest guy at that moment but then, he lost not only his love, his money for the marriage and his dignity... he tried to avoid his relative and family because they will starts to ask him abt the marriage.. i feels sad for him so who dun want a happy family, a lovely wife?

A lot of my guy friends feel that they enjoy their NS time. Some even super enjoy going back for reservice so can cho bo.
Its strange but NONE of my male friends whine about NS. And for the record, I do think its good for women to do some form of NS too.
