JC...a step closer to a degree.Originally posted by ifish:seriously, i see no issue in u getting to YJC.
What your purpose in going to JC? to study? to make friends?
The school may be run down and doesnt look prestigious but its the attitude of the student that counts. and when you said that you feel better when you only see YJC is a top 10 JC it only show you care about your face.
Come on lar.. life is more than just your face. People can put you down in anyway they want but at the end of the day, its whether you make the right choice.
Afterall like wat FI said, at the end of the day, you will be taking the same A level paper like other school.
Its your cert. You decide

Some pple do have prejudice when it comes to school background. The last time i worked part-time, the boss told me straight in the face that he only hire top JC students bcoz he tinks tt it defines their character and attitude. I was like duh..Originally posted by The Peacemaker:JC...a step closer to a degree.
the physical features of a school is not what i mind..
reputation...does matter. how would you feel if people JUDGE you? sometimes, all that about face is shown unconsciously.
why allow people to put me down? i find it despicable to put down others for the sake of self-entertainment.
and yes, eventually, i will get that cert.
anyway...point taken. thanks.![]()

But hey.. dun let it get to u. My fren from YJC got 3 freaking As for his A-level. It's an even playing field. It's up to u whether to perform well.
You lead your own life. Why should you care about what other says about you?i realized your points 2 months ago, but when facts stare at me in the face, my reflex is to fight back.
And yea.. I've been classified as a gay, horny bu*terd and whatever blah blah blah when i entered the course in poly. And seriously the only support i got from is my parents. If i would have followed what other says, would i been to where i am now? I dont know.
Back to the point. Afterall, its your life. Why let others lead for you?
im no longer depressed nor frustrated about the issue. thanks.Originally posted by NUS_Superst@r:Dun be sad la. At least, you are able to enter JC, not like others who can only go ITE or Poly.

It's really natural that you actually look out for reputation as one of the foremost criteria in the making of your choice of JC; most people wouldn't condemn you for wanting prestige. After all, reputation is almost always the best indication of the breadth, depth, rigour and overall quality of the education provided there. But ask yourself this: did you really want to gain admittance into the better JCs? Was there a burning passion, a relentless wanting within you? Were you ready to make the necessary sacrifice of time and effort, and to forego some of the things you love for the pursuit of academic success? More crucially, did you actually make the aforementioned sacrifices to an extent significant enough for the attainment of your curricular ambitions? Most importantly, do you think that you actually gave all you got and did your best?Originally posted by The Peacemaker:reputation...does matter. how would you feel if people JUDGE you? sometimes, all that about face is shown unconsciously.

The main point I'm trying to illustrate is that you obviously lacked conscientiousness and did not put in sufficient effort, and your lack of diligence, self-discipline, a positive attitude and a clear set of goals is consequently reflected in your less-than-mediocre results. You really shouldn't be frustrated about your unsurprising inability to get into your first-choice JC, much less releasing your irrational anger on other forum users, which is highly immature to say the least. If I were you, I wouldn't whine so much but would instead consider this a hard lesson learnt. I'd start planning ahead for my JC years, making decisions on what subjects to take, what CCAs to participate in, reflect on what I'd like to achieve, learn or make out of myself in the two years I will inevitably spend there.
The bottom line is it's time to come to a realisation and get all your s-hit together. Be optimistic of what's ahead of you, practise humility (more so when you don't have genuine substance to offer) and stay focused on your tasks at hand. I may come across as presumptuous and condescending, but if you have a scintilla of common sense, you should know that what I'm offering is sound advice. Good luck.![]()
