Just be yourself and mix with people whom you think have your character. Introduce yourself to the person sitting beside you first then to the others during recess can liao. Thats how I started to make friends this year. And try not to act pai kia -

pick some people you seem to like, or seem nice, make friends, then ask for their contacts, so if have anything dont know can call and ask and help one another ....
conversation wise, talk bout anything since you all are still strangers to one another. There sure have alot of things to talk. Talk to all diff kinds of people (other class also can), hall, canteen, toilet, male, female, whatever .... then slowly you'll know who you can click better with

Don't make the same mistakes as I did.
1) Play games all most of the time, Resulted in no life and bad grades
2) Unsociable, Very resistant in meeting people and always very quiet
All these resulted in me being in the lower caste and I could have been at the top of the food chain -

Oh yes, the advise I'll give is that, be natural and socialise around.
Be nice to others and don't act big shot (I never like them). Soon, you'll have a bunch of great friends. Believe it, I'm just pretty low profile in Sec 1 till I was in the Class Committee and led the class through some events and got my best friends there
