wah, air stewardess sial~Originally posted by Ningster:Just a random thought. May not apply to everyone.
You know how people have perceptions of certain occupations, stereotypes etc... If you r a gal, and your bf is a pilot for example, your friends will go ... "pilot sia"... and if you are a guy... and your gf is an SIA girl... how will your friends react?
SIA girl sia?Originally posted by Ningster:Just a random thought. May not apply to everyone.

It is so true that the SG girl image has been deeply rooted into a part of Singapore. There is even a wax figure of a Singapore Girl in London's Madame-Tussauds muesum. You don't see any other airlines getting this kind of attention or should I say, being "honoured" this way. (just a personal opinion)Originally posted by deathscythe99:If you discuss using marketing tactics...i think it's kinda silly to totally ditch an icon or image which e company has spent lots of time building it up over the past 20 years...To ppl, when they see the SG Girl, they will be reminded of SIA and Singapore, so in that, I think a revamp would most likely be the best choice for SIA
my sis is an SIA girl ....Originally posted by Ningster:Just a random thought. May not apply to everyone.

do pilots need first class seats to rest?Originally posted by kaobeikaobu:whether to go, one question has to be answered first. is there really a need to?
if yes, will this new image be better than the existing one.
if the makeover is successful but didnt really help SIA. It could mean some areas need beefing up and we can go bk to the first question. "is there really a need to?"![]()
Indeed.Originally posted by Pitot:In this part of the aviation industry, Singapore has been one of the forerunners.
if they are going to change it, jolly well make it better.
If not we will lose our foothold.![]()

"always bending down in a subservient way or romping about in a wheat field like a sex object...this is very demeaning and sexist"

I think you got to think abt her having to walk up & down the narrow aisles and bending up and down... and also the kebaya is not really comfortable if you are alittle more rounded as its tailored to fit...Originally posted by klck4ss:can a fat lady with quality service become an air stewardess ?
they're already hiring an increasing number of foreign girls, a lot of the stewardesses on a flight i took were actually japaneseOriginally posted by Fatum:the thing is ... how many SIA girls are actually singaporeans right now ? ...
or even PR's ? ....
if singapore airlines ever wants to go into the big leagues, then it needs to to look beyond Singapore for air crew .... singapore is not going to produce enough girls to fill the SIA ranks, even with a population of 6 million ... and people wonder why standards are going down ? ...
SIA needs to repackage herself ... into something like cathay or virgin, or those arab airlines, where the cabin crew are from all over the place ...
Hair bound too tightly... probably juniors...cos they have to follow the rules... but you see some stewardess with looser buns (probably more "trendy" looking) they have probably flown for a few years already. I guess the most apt way to put it is ...Joining SIA is somewhat like guys going for NS (just that this is completely voluntary). When you first join... its like going through BMT. Alot of heirarchy going on that small confined space.Originally posted by boariggy:yeah i just came back from hk, these SIA girls look way robotic with their freaky smiles, and their hair is just too tightly bound.
good ...Originally posted by vito_corleone:they're already hiring an increasing number of foreign girls, a lot of the stewardesses on a flight i took were actually japanese![]()
