whether to go, one question has to be answered first. is there really a need to?
if yes, will this new image be better than the existing one.
if the makeover is successful but didnt really help SIA. It could mean some areas need beefing up and we can go bk to the first question. "is there really a need to?" -
It is so true that the SG girl image has been deeply rooted into a part of Singapore. There is even a wax figure of a Singapore Girl in London's Madame-Tussauds muesum. You don't see any other airlines getting this kind of attention or should I say, being "honoured" this way. do the aircrew need that much allowance when they visit other countries?
alot of things are not 'needed'
when organisations are rich they just do what they 'want' -
not so much of the image or whether they wear bikinis or not
it's the quality of their service......
wonder how come with the stringent (somewhat lah) tests........all come out still like tt one.......
and sadly, a big %age not singaporeans.......how to proudly call them singapore girl? -
they can make modifications to the costume or make-up or hairdo to catch up with the current trends and still maintain the original look and feel of the singapore girl image.

It's a very challenging industry...and anything which goes wrong will doom the airline... With so many competitors now, I hope that the changes are definitely for the better... -

I still feel the Singapore Girl icon should stay. I mean, having flown on few airlines, our kebaya really stands out because we're the only airline not wearing biz suits! I love the design really, elegant and classic.
But then, I have to agree that maybe a little makeover can be good, like their makeup colours and hairdo maybe?? At least to give people a more modern feel haha

The image of a singapore girl abroad is contrary to wad many locals think.
We keep thinking that they are bad in service.
But foreigners think that they are so well trained that they become robotic.
As time pass, old ideas have to mutate and change to keep up with current times.
The singapore girl image shld stay.
It is like what the merlion is to singapore.
If we lose the image of being a friendly host on board, what makes us different from the other airlines like United, Garuda, China?
Many airlines have been regarded as top or 5 stars due to the cabiun service that they have. Cathay, Singapore, Malaysia..
If we want to pull the plug on the singapore girl.
Jolly well get something better.
If not tiger can be our flag carrier. -

Hair bound too tightly... probably juniors...cos they have to follow the rules... but you see some stewardess with looser buns (probably more "trendy" looking) they have probably flown for a few years already. I guess the most apt way to put it is ...Joining SIA is somewhat like guys going for NS (just that this is completely voluntary). When you first join... its like going through BMT. Another point people should note is that in order to cater to the public, u need to hire people who are efficient in their language.
For example you many find chinese nationals serving on a china flight, a japanese on a japanese bound flight, a korean on a korean bound flight.
its just not efficient to hire singaporeans who can speak so many languages. Crew bases are another thing.. -
i still feel the kebaya can be retained. Maybe just change the makeup...the eyeshadows are freakily blue and thick.
I just hope any changes do not demean the appearance of SIA girls. -
