Sheng Siong Vs NTUC

there r 3 reasons y SS can sell cheaper than ntuc...
1- the profit 4 each items SS sells is from 5 - 15% whereas ntuc is 20 - 30%
2- SS get the goods from the supplier is on discount price whereas ntuc get the normal pricing...
3 - the goods ntuc gets r onli from big companies whereas SS gets goods from both big n small companies... -
Actually NTUC heavily in credit
They only pay supplier in 90 - 120 day credit term
No other ppl get such good credit terms one
Others get COD or 30 days -
Clearly you only know the basis of NTUC's policies and mission statement only... and u only keep to tat...
but NTUC's corporate governance... you know none abt it...
NTUC is a government linked entity.
so i shall stick to myGovernment will make it a point that none will make it above NTUC.

He is currently Singapore's ambassador to Norway and Hungary.
Ng was also a nominated member of parliament in the Singapore Parliament from 2002 to 2004.
He was the founder and director of TIBS Holdings from 1982 to 2001, when it was sold to SMRT Corporation.
now lets move on to managing director of ntuc...
Mr Seah Kian Peng is an mp for marine parade...
next is the Director of Integrated Purchasing, Marketing & Corporate Communications.... who so happens to be the wife of teo chee hean.

The NTUC acknowledged that its interests were linked closely with those of the ruling PAP, a relationship often described by both as symbiotic. The NTUC's Secretary General (SG), Lim Boon Heng, a PAP M.P., was a member of the Cabinet as Minister in the Prime Minister's Office. Young PAP M.P.s often were given leadership positions in the NTUC or a member union.
The NTUC policy prohibited union members who supported opposition parties from holding office in affiliated unions. In November the branch chairman of a union affiliated with NTUC was elected secretary general of the Singapore Democratic Alliance, an opposition body. In December he was stripped of both his union position and his membership in the union. In response he filed an appeal that was pending at year's end.
While the NTUC was financially independent of the PAP, with income generated by NTUC-owned businesses, the NTUC and the PAP shared the same ideology and worked closely with management in support of nonconfrontational labor relations. The NTUC was free to associate regionally and internationally.

There is no doubt, no need to argue, no need to use effort to think OK - NTUC is under government or control by gahmen!!! This is a fact!!! What NTUC union may have strike against govt, this is only putting up show!!! Why believe it, so naive huh!!! Govt in Singapore doesn't allow strike, this is told by MM in one of the interviews. OK, case closed. Verdict or the fact : NTUC is controlled by gahmen or is under gahmen!!! na na na na na na!!!!
Agree that in a way govt may not allow any other supermart to do better than NTUC. Time will tell, let's see what the gahmen going to do or do they bother to do anything to stop sheng siong from shining!!!

Cold storage is better quality; but the weekly costs will be higher than a shopping stop at Fairprice.

ntuc is heartland style, so is shop and save (merged with gvalue) but their range is limited....sheng shiong is wet market with air-conditioning....cold storage is a little more up market with more variety....ntuc tried to rival cold storage with liberty....i think cannot jialan, the one at plaza singapura sank then carrefore came in...giant is hypermart style like carrefore..
cold storage also owns shop and save and giant....
and for the one who insists ntuc is independent.....one more time...ntuc is a de facto pap controlled entity.....just like hdb which pretends to be losing money but in actual fact the sla is ringing in the dough through it..... -

Anyway.... like example at NTUC I bougth a chicken chuck which pack in SG... its cheaper by 20-30 cents... in NTUC...
i think each has their own sets of cheap things... -
hey, I bought chicken legs (quite large portion) 2 in a pack for $2 in Sheng Siong and NTUC selling about 30 cents to 50 cents more. Going to supermarket is to grab things you need and leave, that's all. So I don't understand why must the atmosphere must be good, cash register must not make noise, and not upmarket, not class is considered lousy, dirty and so. I am realistic, wherever offer cheap stuff with good service I will go for it. Why pay more for the same item when it is cheaper somewhere else. I don't stay in the supermarket for long - just grab and go!!! -

part time cashier leh
All like very quiet l looking leh
Can imagine if employ those ah hua or ah liang
