I, myself also a IT support office dealing with DIY system or any IT products. I will tell you straightaway. TROUBLESHOOTINg IS not that easy that looks like.
Even my senior with a MCSE also don't know how to troubleshoot..

Hp/dell coms HDD always dead exactly in a yr! So be prepared to fork money to change a new one.
videopro and fuwell. fuwell prices are starting to be less competitive, so for now i say videopro, service is pretty good as well. yeah had a bad experience with pc themes as well. they took 4 bloody hours to fix up my friends diy system.

Fuwell, yes maybe but Videopro services & price maybe shld see the comments at Hardwarezone.com they give. .... & it's not on the good side Definately.
Hell....if come to worst, buy yr DIY fr Courts lor. They hv that as well now, & will be better service than all of SLS or Funan.

Just want to provide some information for people buying and assembling DIY computers.
1. Check for completeness of your products before leaving the store. For example: The mainboard package usually comes with 1 or 2 SATA cables, PATA cables and 1 floppy drive cable. If it is not in the box, there are 2 possibility: the retailer took them out or the distributor forget to put them inside.
2. Discharge your body from static electricity before touching any electronic component. This is to prevent damage to sensitive electronic components while handling them.
3. While assembling the system, always disconnect or switch off the 240 AC power to the power supply unit.
4. After completing the PC assembly, check that all connections are connected properly at the RIGHT place before the first power up to the whole system. The wrong voltage supplied to a electronic device has a very high chance of damaging it.
5. Most mainboard related problems can be solved by just by updating the BIOS firmware of the mainboard. After updating the BIOS, if it does not work, then the mainboard had suffered permanent physical damage and the only thing you can do is to send the mainboard to the DISTIBUTOR for RMA or replacement.
6. It is always better to sent just the malfunction device to the distributor for servicing/replacement rather than bring the entire CPU set to the retailer for analysis. The distributors have better capabilities in handling malfunction products then the retailers. (For example: If you buy a Nokia phone, it malfunction, do you look for the retailer or sent it to Nokia Service Center?)
This is just my recommended way of handling DIY computers. Of course, you can always have your own way of doing things, but you are just learning things the hard way. -

Not being racist,but im an indian myself.I think that the indian shops in Sim Lim are very bad,they tell you 1 thing and give you another.Best Bargain is 1 classic example.
Bought hdd and spoilt within a week,i call back telling em what happened and the lady was extremely rude to me as well.
The chinese shops are mostly the ones better,though expensive but saves you lotsa shit. -

If you are a computer+ IT problem, SLS can give you one of the best deals around. You will know what you are looking for and the price to get it at. Unfortunately this doesn't apply to many people.
The only thing I'd advise people is to check the product if it' possible, eg camera. And check carefully. DSLR Lenses may have scratches, that you wont see unless you really stare at it (stare until people think you mad) -

i rather bring to a friendly neighbourhood pc shop and give em some cash help me diagnose. -

prices varies greatly between shops depending on their individual suppliers the shop endorse.
u can bargain. but have some courtesy for em and dun push it too far. -

i bought mine from fuwell, twice. i bought once from bell, but decide to go fuwell cos their stuff was expensive. fuwell, so far good service. i bought a new system from them just like 2-3 months back, got some problem with the wireless keyboard+mouse and the LCD screen. brought them back and found that the wireless keyboard+mouse is ok, the boss ?
