the metal braces are made of stainless steel, if i am not wrong. the arch wire is a special type of wire that will spring back to its original shape even after being bent in place with your crooked teeth. at every visit, you still have to change powerchain or donuts, and perhaps the arch wire. i dunno is it the costs of the materials that makes the braces price so hefty.

i just put on braces last week.
the first day was very bad. day time was still alright, i could feel alot of pressure on my teeth. at night, it felt like a migraine. i just felt like tearing the braces off to give some relief to my teeth. its like wearing clothes which are 3 sizes too small for you. and you feel so clastrophobic and uncomfortable and irritable.
same for the 2nd day, the first 2 - 3 days i ate porridge.
4th day, i buay tahan, buy potato chips to eat.
jack and jill, normal packet. took me exactly 2 hours to eat. and it got all stuck in my braces, it was disgusting.
i brush everytime i eat something. and i keep feeling like there's food stuck in my teeth.
sigh, but its better now after nearly 1 week have past. i had the indonesian bbq chicken, curried rice and egg for lunch. but of course can't seem to enjoy as i would in the past.
i don't think can eat my favourite spare ribs though, until 2 years later.

Last time when i was on braces... nightmare = the wire break.
LOL, i had experience the thingy stick on teeth came loose.
I had 2 year one it, and there's retainer to be wore for 1 year.

i ate solid food after 3 days. couldn't take the temptation. just chew slowly. if it's really sore. bite down hard and let the pain persist. after a while, the soreness will go off and you can eat a little bit of food. then when it comes back, do the same thing lor.
did you extract any molars? -

i think u make the right choice to do! think after 2 mths or so, u can see a diff in ur teeth.

actually until now, after about 6 mths of braces, i still dun really "chew" on my food.. jz "chew" a little.. then shallow...
take super long time to eat.. everything must cut till tiny pieces.. cos my front teeth cant bite to tear the food.. -

i have braces and a tongue piercing. so much metal and i still can eat anything i want.

lol..no worries la...u will get used to it de..i still remember when i juz wear my braces,my inner cheeks and lips always kena cut..den sometimes got blood..dam pain..but it wont happen anymore after a period of time..it's only the first few weeks..dun wry
