What a retard... Haven't you realised, that there are two distinct writing styles apparent in ONE USER? Haven't you considered the possibility that there may be TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE behind this nick? I guess I have overestimated not only your language skills, but others as well.Originally posted by S.KCH:By the way, this argument is getting really naggy and pointless.
What I HAVE noticed about you, however, is the fake pompous air you have got around you. It only accentuates the insecurity you have as an Asian. You try to erase part of yourself by purposely removing all use of Singlish even when it's evident in another thread it's already somewhat embedded in your poorly written sentences.
This is what I call Stupid Fake Ang Moh
Don't call me dude. In case you haven't realised, your excessive use of that word is very grating.
Haha! Indications that an immature person is losing an argument.Originally posted by Dormito_ger:What a retard... Poorly written sentences? Well, I'm certainly not in some half-baked course like English Literature... Unlike some. =)

Haha! Indications that an immature person is losing an argument.
They resort to calling people RUDE names to vent their anger. (Is someone grasping at straws?)
They also resort to making up really lame excuses for inadequacies.
Oh by the way, failing to consider the VERY REMOTE possibility you mentioned does not make me a retard.
I use very different writing styles in different threads using one single nick in this forum too. Also, please be aware I think very little of your current writing style. But forget that, I suppose I should just agree with you that you are so inflexible and stuck up with a stick-in-the-ass you would NEVER EVER agree to using anything but the purest and most accurate form of English. *Gasp* I'm so sorry if our inadequacies have tainted your Holiness!![]()
I suppose everything is half-baked to you? It's not MY fault You were born SO SUPERIOR to all of us.
P.S I over-estimated your maturity. Halfway through the argument you just go on to insult people instead of making a proper point. Pick yourself up and stop embarrassing yourself.
You must have a serious case of split personality.Originally posted by Dormito_ger:Insult people without making a proper point?? Haven't you been reading the posts at all?? You might say it's one's choice to speak either proper English or Singlish, but when you're the only one making the effort and nobody else around you does, you're going to seem weird to your circle of friends and be the odd one out. Everybody wants to fit into their circle of friends, nobody likes being the odd one out.

absol, you have made several valid points. Kudos. Based on your argument, it would be difficult to eliminate the aspect of Singlish/broken English in this generation. Fair enough. But my point is, don't you think that this situation is worsened now? In the past, those who were not so able in the language, probably typed/communicated in broken English. Now, they substitute numbers, NUMBERS for words... What's more, some of them are proud of it... That's what I'm riled up about.Originally posted by absol:quote Dormito_ger
"I fail to comprehend WHY, after being educated in English for 10 years (I'm assuming most of you people here have completed at least Primary & Secondary Level), most, if not ALL of you peeps here still can't speak/type proper English."
It seems like you have a very firm command of the English Language.
But I fail to comprehend WHY when you were asking for help, you could type out sentences like "my msn cannot sign in for these past few daes" and "whenever i wanna sign in".
Practise what you preach. If you don't even have a clean record of typing proper English in this forum, you don't really have much authority to go about insulting the current english standard of Singaporeans. If you can't produce proof about the fact that you say there were two users in the same account, you have already lost that arguement.
And it looks like you have forgotten about the older generation, our parents and even our grandparents. Many of our parents only have up till primary/secondary education. We live together in the same house, under the same roof with them for so many years. We get influenced by their dialects and their primary use of the chinese language since young, and that's how our broken english came about. Many of us don't have "ang moh" examples to learn from.
Spoken languages are a habit, and especially since we have spoken singlish/broken english since young. This makes it hard for singaporeans to completely remove the singlish from their speech. If you want good spoken english, you'll have to start young and educate children about the importance of speaking good english (which i doubt they'll even give a damn to). As time passes by, our English standard will definitely get better but never will the roots of Singlish be removed, in the current generation at least.
You might say it's one's choice to speak either proper English or Singlish, but when you're the only one making the effort and nobody else around you does, you're going to seem weird to your circle of friends and be the odd one out. Sure, if you want a better standard of spoken english, arrange for an "ang moh" to be in everyone's house. Example is the way to learn. In this way i'm sure everyone's standard of english will improve by speaking to an "ang moh" everyday.
English lessons were also never very interesting anyways due to the rigid education system where everything is so result-oriented, so I doubt many would actually be paying 100% attention during English lessons to improve their language as they lack the interest and more importantly, there is no motivation/incentive for doing well in the language.
As for the being proud of singlish part, well, if you don't have something better, just make the best out of whatever you have now =)
I understand that, there are certain "accepted" internet abbreviations, such as, "LOL", "WRU", etc. However today, it has reached a stage whereby you get people typing "ME" as "MI", "IS" as "ISH"... Some claim that this is purely out of fun, well, no offence, but if one types in this manner consistently, chances are that he/she will repeat this in a paper, or while writing up a paper, or even in the course of their work. So what next, substituting dialect, Mandarin or even Malay words in an English exam?Originally posted by Freedom Fighter:¡ HÂV3 ábØ|_|7 32 hou|2S £ë|=+ BêfoR3 Ì 9o nš, šo ! LOL?No offence *intended*? Then you must be a really nasty person when you mean it. I got seriously offended just by reading your previous posts. Just because you try to make up with a slightly more sensible reply doesn't mean you can conveniently shrug off the fact you made so many unnecessary comments on our level of education and the VERY grating and VERY opinionated statements you made on our country based the internet abbreviations you found here.Originally posted by Dormito_ger:I understand that, there are certain "accepted" internet abbreviations, such as, "LOL", "WRU", etc. However today, it has reached a stage whereby you get people typing "ME" as "MI", "IS" as "ISH"... is that new? TS? jondizzle?Originally posted by Dendrite88:Interesting thread. I would really LOVE to see if TS is this prissy, arrogant girl real life.
I would prefer verbal debates TS, so if you are free to really "comment" on this "crisis" that we are facing, feel free to drop me a PM and we can debate on the phone or skype or whatever online network you want. I promise you if your arguments make me concede defeat, I will personally write to the editor of Straits Times and make sure your "concerns" are voiced out.
Otherwise, you can continue to tell your Aussie mates that SG is a English forsaken country where everyone communicates through the invented language, Singlish. Just beat us down in front of them, it amuses them a lot too I guess, to see you all so fired up and peeved about our standard of English when you yourself not only used it, your parents probably do too. How about lecturing your parents in the meantime, show them your point... Maybe, just maybe you might be able to break a little "tradition".
I would honestly think that you are either 1) very very emotionally unstable at this point in your life or 2) you just want people in the forum to get riled up and just flame you and you gain some entertainment for yourself.
But I'm awaiting your offer to debate verbally because I would think that with this immense confidence you are showing through the internet... you ought to be BIG & MIGHTY in real life too. So please... feel free to drop me a PM. I am a very good listener and I wont say I give good comments, but at least they are valid ones.
I can assure you of a good time when we are on this topic, you have my word![]()

Evasive answer? Your juvenile logic and eagerness to link race to this issue simply reflects your childish and racist mentality. Don't be a sore loser just because you can't outargue someone. Race has got NOTHING to do with this. Instead of refuting arguments, you bring in race. Heh. Such impeccable reasoning simply evades me.Originally posted by mancha:It has got to do with you.
You are a Singaporean.
A Chinese who is discriminated against, will put it behind and move on.
A Malay who is discriminated against, will bottle it up.
An (South) Indian who is discriminated against, will vent the angst.
No prize, for guessing where you fit.
You steadfastdly maintain you pompous charade.
You are doubious. You claim there are two personalities to one nick???
Your gender is suspect, dude.
You are arrogant.
You look down on Singaporeans.
You don't even understand the traits of this forum.
You are,.. in one one word, sick.
I offered you a reprieve to relax from this charade.
But you can't naturally, because of your personality disorder.
An evasive answer says alot.
