Why have ten children when you can't afford it?

I feel your sentiments but things will not change until actions are taken.. Time and time again I see the same old people making same offensive remarks.. Taking it with a pinch of salt is one thing, tolerance as they say, but when it becomes too sensitive and offensive.. *shrugs* it just keep coming again from the same old people.. Oh well we are all humans, humans make mistakes regardless of race or religion.. How many times have I already seen threads and posts discriminating malays and muslims and malaysians and for that fact, other races too.. Time and time again it keeps coming.. What has social and economic problems got to do with racial harmony and tolerance?
If you're poor and uneducated, I still have a social responsibility, as a fellow human being, to show you respect. You don't spit at any man for no good reason, no matter if he is a millionaire or the unfortunate Chinese aunty who resorts to selling tissue paper at kopitiam for her earning.
The human tendency to moralize is forgivable. Even ignorance, to a certain extent, is pardonable. But the human urge to discriminate and sling mud at another group for being of a different colour cannot be tolerated for the sake of our humanity and basic decency.
My appeal to all members of SgForums is to don't let yourselves down by passing off the odd callous or racist remark. In attempting to degrade another race, you're just degrading yourself.

It is also human nature to compete. And it is only with competition that there can be progress. No one is slinging mud at malays because of their color. But more because of their poor performance in society. But perhaps i speak only for myself when i say that.
The malay community is catching up but this is also partly a result of concerted government efforts to help them. Singapore surely cannot afford a repeat of the 1960 racial riots. And sometimes minority races are so quick to scream discrimination when things dont go their way.
I am sure many singaporeans are of my mindset. It is just that most educated singaporeans are also the biggest hypocrites ever. And so they must maintain an air of caring for fellow singaporeans, regardless of race or religion. And so while they might not say it, they think it. -

If only the husband were to spent some small money buying condoms to use, then he won't have pay BIG money to maintain so many children and the house too!

I think these people may just need some lessons on family planning, that's all.
Tradition can change with time. Chinese used to have 5 or 6 kids in a family, but now take a look. We don't see Chinese having 5 or 6 kids very often nowadays, so do Muslims. Not all have 5 or 6 kids.
It's just a few of them, and this has just happened to hit the headlines. If this is a Chinese family, I don't think I will see Muslims posting "Chinese
" or "Chinese ", right? -
The point is not whether to use contraceptives or not but learning to be prudent and self-disciplined.

I don't think being kicked out of your house, because you cannot pay your bills, be considered very conducive.
I don't think that dropping out of school, unable to finish schooling, unable to afford basic educational expenses can be considered conducive.
Simply put, if you can't afford it, don't do it. There are other families with lots of children, but unlike the situation mentioned, they live in adequate housing with their expenses covered generally well. -

I dont feel sorry for them.
Knowing that their income is not high, they still fark around so much and give birth like nobody's business and now, they expect other people to help them clear their sh!t.
Let them be evicted and keep them stressed. The more stress they are under, the less they feel like farking around.
Help them, they feel happy and they fark around again and more babies pop out and again, they will appeal to other people to clear up the mess they stirred up yet again. -

while there is no law to stop people from having a lot of children, it is the responsibility of the individual to live within their means. one basic question when you do family planning - can you afford to pay for the household maintenance fees if you have x number of children? A simple answer like "Oh, we will just eat less, travel less, spend less" is not enough. You really got to put on paper how much you and your spouse earn and how much the two of you must spend (e.g. transport, insurance, makan, household bills and others) and then work out the remainder to see if they are sufficient for additional family members.

even in SAF, Malays are only assigned to SPF, Civil Defence, RP or Drivers almost all the time. They are rarely in normal army combat vocations.
i think this case here the parents dont exhibit any responsibility. and they are worried the kids will be taken away from them and put in welfare.
