guys.. whats the point of pushing the blame and asking why never wear life vest? Now they have..gone.. let them rest in peace..
To those that are insensitive, condemning them. Pls remember that they went overseas and row for singapore, to win medal for us. We fellow singaporean, they want to bring us proud and glory. It is o k if you don't feel sad or sorry for them, the least u can do is at least stop condemning them. PLS!!! thanks alot -

This was a tragedy. I do not think it is necessary to cast blame or hurl accusations. Both sides were wrong. I do not think the guys made the decison out of arrogance as some posted. More of not really considering the consequences. They have paid the ultimate price for their mistake. Please let them rest in peace.
Hopefully future organisers and participants (not only this event) will learn from this tragedy and be more safety conscious. -

That is the responsibility of the Singapore's organizer, not Cambodia's festival organizers.. The team carried life jackets for the event. They wore the life jackets when they were training in the same river but decided against wearing them in the event because it would hamper performance. Two pictures here. The newspaper pic showed Jeremy Goh wearing a vest while his teammates did not. It shows that he carried out due diligence when participating in watersports even in safe waters in Singapore.
The second pic is taken from Reuben's friendster foto gallery. Everyone was donning life vests. Looks like a reservoir in Singapore.
Look at Jeremy's compact inflatable life vest. It doesn't restrict rowing movement at all.
