I'm not sure, but I think can. I already apply my deferment for ITE. But I defer again in poly, isn't the same I still have to go NS, in just a later year, and wasting the same amount of years?

Its just that its very difficult from the start once you have been posted to NT stream.Not even a chance to do O lvl which NA has.Confirm ITE means having a school filled with potential gangsters and classes may not be as peaceful when sometime lecturers cannot even be bothered(gt one thread either here or in HWZ where a lecturer mocked the ITE students for not studying,playing games in school etc)

It doesn't matter whether you have already apologise or not. I just feel very condemmed by what you said, not because I have any suicide tendencies.
In ITE, yes, there's filled with potential gangsters, but they aren't as bad as what you think, you helped them, they will definitely help you more in return (e.g. people find you for trouble and etc..). Class is not peaceful, and is very hard to study in such shit enviroment, I have to agree with that.
But lecturer are not blind or stupid, they got eyes to see who are willing to study. I can always ask for extra lesson if I don't understand one particular topic, or ring him/her up when I'm at home.
Some lecturers can't be bother is because majority of the students are playing with their PSP. Trust me. My class 16 people, 14 play PSP during lesson.
'(gt one thread either here or in HWZ where a lecturer mocked the ITE students for not studying,playing games in school etc)', I would say serve the student right. Why? Simple, because the lecturer is there trying very hard to teach you, but you heck care, and continue to play PSP or play whatever stuff you can find.
Sometime my lecturer mock me, for the sake of fun, because I sometime used to mock my lecturer (like, his hairstyle like Elvis Presley, or trying to act cute). Is how you look at it and how you take the mock/remarks/comments, given by your lecturer.

Why the heck would I choose a JC if it's 3 years?

Normal stream has to take 5 years in order to take their 'O' level,after the 4th year they'll go for their "N' level first.The fact is that most can't do very well at O levels as the disparity in standards is quite great prompting not long ago some principals suggest to their Normal students not to waste their time but instead opt for ITE will be better.for normal academic stream can still try for poly but normal technical,the only apparent route is ITE. At PSLE when students who normally have 200 points or better are cateorgised into express while ,200 to 180 are in normal academic and lower than 180 are put in normal technical. I taught all cateorgies of students before and it's true not all express students are fast or bright learners but on the other hand some normal academic students show promise to excel and are promoted by sec 2 to express if they did well in the prelimins.Many teachers may be reluctant to promote the normal students unless they show consistency and great improvements in their grades.Many of the normal academic also nowadays take additional maths which is traditional reserved for the express students.whether you're normal or express students ,they key is to work hard and give off your best as it's your duty as students

My own observation is dat there are more guys den gals in normal stream. can anybody give an analysis of e above observation.

very interesting observation. gals r more serious and reach puberty faster develop faster more matured? whereas guys are more playful puberty slower take things easy?

Express stream is for kiasu people (most).
Special stream is for kiang gah em si lang.

My class ratio for people who really study and people who don't is prolly around 70:30 i think...
I can tell you there will be people whom you wished you could kill them if you are the study type like me...but luckily my class got only a couple of those kind of people...prolly only 3 out of the 34 lol...

oh yes i forgot no point to really ask about the boys cos their puberty slower. girls develop much faster physically and mentally. -

Think, because of the way the syllabus is planned for NA, sec 5 contains the majority of it so if the student cannot cope in sec 4 already, better take the ITE route("trade in" the sec 5 for higher NITEC 2 yrs) which have more chance of doing well and then to poly.
Downside is - the bad reputation of ITE - harsh but true reality that will continue unless a revamp is made.

Bad reputation?
I think most people find ITE to be a bad place becoz "most" of the students are rotten apples...
But from wot i've seen, where i study, there are loads of ITE students who really study....i think i'm lucky to be in my class...the other class got a a hell load more irritating ass....

I got issues with people portraying your view which is either too naive or too arrogant for its own good. I do agree that indulging in self pity doesn't help but for goodness sakes , we are talking about children and teenagers . They are at stage where patience, encouragement and gentle guidance will help alot. Demoralising them achieve nothing.
We are not talking about adults who should know any better and should bear responsibility for their actions.
Now now u are assuming i am generalising just because of your psersonal bias.Who are you to say your teachers did not want the best for you?teachers are underpaid overworked government civil servants therefore when they do take on this particular profession it is out of passion for helping their students nth more. Therefore it is unfair for you to say that they demoralise and what not because they have no need to do and any basic teachers want the best for their students Na express or NT
