Eventually it comes down to what you want in a credit card. The best ones give you discounts and rebates in places you frequent + 1 or 3 year fee waiver.

Earning around 30k a year, so can't afford any Platinum card...
since gal sure take uob ladies.... platinum can la... depends on diff cc company criteria... get posb everyday for daily stuffs......
Ask what is the annual subscription fee. That is something you don't like to pay. And annually you will be asking for a waiver. Until one day, they will respect your wishes. Then you apply for another one again.
POSB cc first three years free, then $18 per annum, I think, is cheap.
NTUC-OCBC, free as long as you are a union member and paying union subscriptions.
Use Credit Cards only as a convenient means of payment in certain establishments, like swanky restaurants or shops, for travel or electronics. For ordinary spendings refrain from using cc, use NETS or cash. Pay your cc bills in full every month.

No harm going for it, and see how it is. You can cancel the card later if you don't like it.
Master card and Visa card are the most recognised around the world so I would recommend one of them.
It also really depends what you use your credit cards for. If you're planning to use it mainly for all your grocery shopping, paying bills etc, it's worth getting one that has reward points or frequent flyer points.
If you are also planning to use your credit card for both grocery and online shopping, if you can afford it, it's adviseable to get 2 separate credit cards. Keep the credit limit of the card used for online shopping to the minimum, just in case someone happens to get hold of your card number and abuse it, at least your loss is not going to be significant.
i can only afford Posb Net cards, cashcards and ezlink cards. Me got no Master and also never go oversea, so no visa. Applied AMEX to buy america products and DIner CLUB for dinner, all rejected.
