last time I asked my colleague who's malay muslim, she say they dun eat pork not only because its unclean.. they dun eat things without a clear neck.. like pigs neck is not defined..
then she also tell me dun eat ducks.. but I ask her "ducks got neck leh" then somehow she say dun eat those creatures that lives on neither land nor water.. ducks sort of can swim in river.. so erm.. also dunno how she explain..
not only ducks.. i think frogs also cannot eat...
dun flame me ah.. I only contributing what I heard from my ex-colleague..

1st of all if you want to know more about the religion you should go to the correct source,not here.2nd Just because your 'muslim' friend said this or that dosen't mean it's the truth.You know there are quite a lot of ignorant muslims out here in sg and they may not know what they are talking about.You see the problem lies with the people and not the religion.This is a problem with the community here as many have lost touch with their faith.God willing there will be a change to this.peace.

Dude if you've read the front page, I've already looked up google on this but cant seem to understand, thats why i decided to post here.

I'll try and make this simple... Pigs have characteristics of scavengers... they have been known to eat rotting carcasses, garbage and their own feaces...
Halal animals are herbivours only, fishes, birds not including birds of prey...
I've never heard of this before until tonight... an article saying that consumption of swine-flesh among Jewish, Christianity and Islam is believed to reduce the feeling of shame and modesty... thus giving rise to vanity and immorality... I'll ask the local imam what he thinks about this...

Whatever explanation there is - agricultural, biological or precedence in pre-islamic worldviews can be more or less called conjectures, there is not enough conclusive evidence. Generally it is regarded by muslims to be unclean and then it spreads into two groups - the first is that pigs are inherently unclean and the second that pigs are unclean only in relation to us and not before God and every other creature since everything created has a purpose or is doing its own praise towards God.
