  Most part of west used to belong to them as rubber plantations and most of Tanglin and Orchard Road too. Many sold them after WWII to return to Israel.

  By the way if you go to Indonesia next month don't forget to stop by those DVD/CD shops and get super copies of MP3 music for just a few S$ dollars a piece.I am listening to some hits from the 80s right now right.
