As long as english is not removed as dominant language and chinese schools restored, the cultural development of Singapore will be weak.
I propose english completely removed as dominant language, dominant languages will be mandarin and malay.
There will be no suppression of other languages or dialects of minority groups. The only group whose mother tongue is english in Singapore are the eurasians in my opinion.
Peranakan's mother tongue should be baba malay, not english. So malay restored as dominant language can also be considered as restoring peranakan language.
English will be totally banned in public institutions and official documents. This will be a gradual process with minimum disruption in public life.
what about india people?
Tamil for them la....=_="

Have to learn either mandarin or malay. But there will be tamil schools to raise the standard of tamil.
We are all now using alien and colonial language also.
Maybe the indians have better suggestions. They should voice out and give their opinions.
Everyone should voice out. Support must voice, oppose also must voice.
Walao, i very confused liao.
Whats the primary language for all singaporeans to communicate in?

Officially should be two, mandarin and malay. This is just my suggestion. Of course, other groups whose languages are not included will feel pissed off. That is why I say everyone must give their views.

Primary language was actually chinese and english, but today it had changed,
for chinese, it had changed to Potong Hua with PRC accents
for English, it had changed to Singlish

Singapore has been anglicised to quite an extreme extent, everywhere all english signs, english words.
Very few signs in local languages like mandarin, malay, tamil.
This is due to the extremism of Lee Kuan Yew.
Local dialect mother tongues, suppress, chinese schools destroy. Nan Tah university, destroy. All use colonial langauge, anglicise everything.
This type of extremism by Lee Kuan Yew is totally wrong and must be completely rejected.
Singapore should be a diverse and plural society, not anglicised bastard society with no identity and no culture.

Just look at Ch 8 now......freaking atrocious mandarin. Producer should have prepared a comprehensive vocab list based on the stipulated programme and restaurant. Appalling standards.
Examples:
那个 waffle 很脆。
它里的 chocolate sauce 很足够。
他的务是蛮嘉的。 (Cannot use 嘉 this way)
深密 pronounced as sen2 mi4
我很喜欢 oyster.
牛排我会 ask for medium.
这边的食物挺好的,and then 我还会回。

That's why mandarin standards in sg are terrible. There are ready substitutes in all sorts of languages, such that people do not bother to find the proper words of description.

Just saw that. I was pissed off and share the same sentiment with you.
Total failure in LKY's push for Mandarin. Laughing stock to foreigners.

Not from the subtitles. From the mouths of the participants in food tasting.

in my time I think English was emphasized. Never did like speaking or hearing Chinese, even though I think it's a beautiful language - only if one masters it. I don't speak English in this kind of rojak pattern, only Chinese due to my inadequacy.
