I travel to the Republic of Korea ever so often and I can assure TS that the Singapore Passport is very well recognised and respected there.
Ever so often, I might meet some Koreans that do not know where Singapore is. But once they know that Singapore citizens are from one of the very few countries in Asia that do not require visas to R.O.K., their impression of Singaporeans differs from our other Asian compatriots. Don't forget, the R.O.K. is a country where racial and country profiling/typing is still conducted on a large scale, so this is a big deal.
Also, in the People's Republic of China, Singapore Passport holders are one of four nations not previously in the Soviet Bloc (or are post-Communist countries) that can enter P.R.C. visa-free, albeit for 15 days or less. In China, once you mention Singapore, you would likely be told "Oh, LKY", or "Singapore, oh very clean!". To them, Singapore is a post-colonial success story.
My current Singapore Passport has the stamps of entry in Paris CDG, Zürich Klöten and Milano Malpensa. I also have the exit stamps of Frankfurt (am Main), München FJS and Zürich Klöten. At all the Schengen border control points, the visa-free status of my Singapore Passport is one that I am very proud of when I see people around me who require them.
While as Singaporeans, we may or may not agree with how some things are run. However, my red Singapore Passport is something I truly value. On a personal note, it does things which even the other green Korean (R.O.K.) Passport cannot do.
why not proud, mine's a black braun buffel ![]()

Perhaps I didn't phrase my topic properly.
My main concen is not whether Singapore passport is recognised or not, is more of how people view Singapore as country. Do we give a positive image to the world?
Why we have easy access to countries? Singapore maintain a neutral standpoint(very understanable) on most contentious issue + low crime rate + our open economy + export-led gdp. Therefore, it necessitates our government to foster good relationship between all countries. If we have easy access to their countries, they have easy access to our country too. I am not criticizing it, but this isn't something I am proud of. It is juz necessary for our economy.
I rather boost about my clean and safe city. I am grateful about it too.
Anyway it's good to know that alot of Singaporeans are proud of themselves.
so ur qn is just...... Are you proud to be Singaporean? rite?
y bother make it so complicated tok abt pp.

Bcuz I am going overseas soon, and today I was packing and trying to find my pp. Usually when I am going(or about to go) overseas then I start thinking whether am I genuinely proud to be a Singaporean. To me, the 'flash passport' part, is more of identifying ur nationality than considering usefulness my passport.
I typed the opening thread with my pp beside me. Thinking back, 'Are you proud to be Singaporean?' is indeed a more appropriate title.
oni tt black face minah at the a/p customs will be looking at it
the rest of the time, it better be safe and snug somewhere close to u, and where ppl can't see it
I'm proud to be a Singaporean, Born and bred in this little red dot, And I gladly stand up, even though the laws are tough, where at least i know we are safe and easy access to all amneites are still here, Freedom has it price but i thankfully can take stroll at midnight and be safe, go out anytime and speak Singlish , the Red Passport has garnered me a lot of respect when i travel abroad, Yeah yes the law is too strict, then again who cares i am proud to be a Singaporean even though a lot can be improved

Are strict laws the main and only contributing factor to low crime? Saudi Arabia has strict laws, there isn't anywhere safe. Japan has low crime - lower homicide rate than Sg according to wikipedia - but no tough laws. Are we undermining other factors - good education, strong economy, efficient police force, efficient government - contributing to low crime?
One last qns: immediately after Oliver Fricker incident, if u travel to Switzerland, are u 100% comfortable to declare that u Singaporean??
Nigho, when you are overseas please tell everyone you meet you are from Singapore, they will be happy to meet you and want to know more about Singapore.
I know for sure. I have been overseas and they all know a little of Singapore. And most have high regard for Singapore.
The problem is you, not the passport or Singapore or the people's perception of Singapore. There are more reasonable people in the world than silly people.
And if you talk bad about your own country, only then they will look down at you.
If someone condemn Singapore and you say nothing, that person will laugh at you, and the on-lookers will pity you.

Simple scenario:
Guy A: Hi! Where are u from?
Me : Singapore
Guy A:Oh, It's a very clean city.
This isn't holding high regarding; It's merely superficial courtesy. What is he really thinking, u wouldn't noe.
For myself, I wouldn't ask a middle east person who I first met:
''Hey, why is ur country still beheading people publicly?''
''I heard u guys watch the entire procedure like some sort of football game.''
''Is it true that u guys are cheering during the process?''
Probably, I would say something lydat: ''Oh! ur country is very rich, full of oil.'' That isn't my real impression of his nation. I am just trying to be polite.
I have been to many major cities around the world, those that aren't close to me, have nv ever utter a word of criticism against Sg. Only those who are reasonably close to me, would tell me what they truly feel.
If someone criticises Singapore, I will only defend if his statement is nonsensical. If he makes a good evaluation, I might support him.
Singapore isn't the best country simply bcuz u are Singaporean. You are not being objective.
ok. good for u
>clap clap<

so you support or oppose PAP?
Singapore is your country, it should be subjective.
One again it boils down to you.

The price he paid he too heavy.
If vandalism equals mandatory caning then maybe things like littering, cut-queue, not giving seat to elderly, pointing middle finger, drink driving and should all constitute to mandatory caning.
Just bcuz things have been practiced for a period of time, does not means it is correct.

Not heavy, other foreign fuckers will come and fuck Singapore.

oppose. bcuz the parliament need more opposition voice.
I rmb watching parliament meeting; Mr Low Thia Khiang was like being 'bullied' duing a debate. No matter how capable he is, there is no way he can take on an entire party by himself

Well, if you want to think the worst of other people, who are we to stop you? I'd give them the benefit of a doubt; perhaps they say that because they know little else about S'pore.
S'pore doesn't appear only in bad press. Oliver Fricker is so 2-years-ago; few will readily remember who he is a few years down the road. Ask an American about S'pore and they'll probably think Eduardo Saverin rather than Michael Fay.
You're not being objective either by harping on the negative aspects. It's our homeland, so make the most of what you've been given.

It's paramount for Sg maintain good human right image. Of cuz we have good things such as good economy and clean streets. But is that enuff?
Take this to an individual perspective:
I don't care how rich or poor you are, I still respect you.
If u are a child abuser or murderer, I dun care how rich or poor u are, I despise you.
What I am trying to say is no matter how good Sg's economy is, I still can't fully(I dun mean i hv no respect for sg) respect Sg bcuz of some of our ugly abusive practice.
I am now getting the feeling that this topic is a Speakers Corner topic, but disguised so as to be in Chit Chat.
If you feel ashamed of yourself... then dun go out of Singapore lo..... simple... ![]()
great passport ! i get to stay in Canada for 5 months, US for 3 months.. Who's complaining ?

You can be critical of Singapore, strive to make it better and still appreciate being a citizen. Singapore is much bigger than the money it generates, the people who govern it and the actions of a few.
u can always wear this when u go out
