I remembered doing a survey on Singapore's mandatory death sentence. I have a pretty much mixed reaction. My qns was: 'What do you think of Singapore's Mandatory Death penalty?' I specifically highlighted some of the offences which constitute to mandatory death penalty. Many agree the law is too harsh; the judge should be given more discretion. Thinking back, if I rephrased my qns as: 'Foreigners labeled Singapore's death penalty as barbaric, do u agree?' My feedbacks might be very different. While many Singaporean appreciated some of the inappropriate practices, they cannot accept criticism from foreigners.
Just recently, a PRC described(I didn't agree) us 'gangsters' and 'dogs' which caused an outrage over the internet. Singaporeans over the net were quick to unite and condemned actions of that PRC. If a Singaporean rephrase and ask a qns: 'Are Singaporean generally rude?' The feedback might be very different. Furthermore, I seen much more terrible criticism against PRC from Singaporean, Why are they unpunished?
I am not unique but I am open to criticism; regardless from foreigners or fellow Singaporeans. As long as there are constructive, I am very willing to listen with no animosity.
sorry for the above post, I dunno what happened either
How come the topic change from "Being embarassed of an SG passport" to "Us VS them"?
This is another Singapore bashing topic.
The ashamed of passport is just bull.

Try going to another country and belittling it and its people on their turf, and see whether you'll get a different reaction.

Nothing new there, nations try to dictate how other nations conduct their affairs all the time using boycotts, wars and treaties. Case in point - Bahrain 2 months ago.

How is that diverting from the topic... I am embarrassed to identify my nationality bcuz of some of the bad practice in Sg which give foreigners a bad impression - specifically on our human rights practice. The above report further substantiate my assertion.

I dun understand how u end up with this conclusion. Yes! I 'bash' Singapore. Why? bcuz I am embarrassed about our bad human rights record, and foreigners are awared of it......... Therefore, I am ashamed to identify my nationality.......
Passport = identificaiton of ur nationality in this topic
I do agree with u; this thread should be in Speaker corner . I apologize for starting a topic under the wrong category....

Of cuz it's nothing new, but it is something to be concerned........
Takeover rejected bcuz of protecting country's iconic organisation, protecting ur employee, bid price, synergy issue are fair............ but for human rights issue(nothing new), isn't it something to think about.............

Fair enuff....good answer.... I respect you(seriously, not being sarcastic).....
If you are concerned by the poor human rights record in Singapore, you should direct your attacks at the PAP, no need to raise the passport issue.

They have each told you what they think and why you shouldn't be ashame, but in return you just present some report twisted report about Singapore.
Clearly it is your intention to bring out these reports, your ashamed of presenting the pass port is just to detract people from your agenda.
